This 8-hour, one-day course provides crime scene investigators, fire investigators, and medicolegal death investigators with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively document fire scenes through forensic photography.
Fire scenes present unique challenges, including low visibility, scene instability, and extensive damage to structures, vehicles, and human remains. This course focuses on capturing clear, accurate, and progressive images that document fire origin and spread, evidentiary items, and fire-related trauma.
Participants will learn best practices for photographing residential, vehicle, and commercial fire scenes, as well as techniques for documenting deceased individuals in fire environments. Emphasis is placed on proper exposure, scene progression, preservation of detail, and maintaining evidentiary integrity from scene to courtroom.

This class is pending IAI Crime Scene Certification and Recertification approval (8 Hours).
Attendance Policy: Students must attend this class to receive a certificate. Students that have enrolled in the class but need to cancel shall contact Suncoast Forensics at meredith@suncoastforensics.com at least 15 calendar days prior to the start of the class. Cancellations made less than 15 calendar days prior to the start of the class will be subject to a $100 cancellation fee. No shows for the class will result in a non-refundable class fee. This fee will be waived in instances of legitimate emergencies. If an agency needs to send a substitution in place of a registered student, contact Suncoast Forensics to provide updated student information.
